Had the fortunate pleasure of checking out Bloomberg’s inaugural Screentime event. It was great to learn from trailblazers that are disrupting the media space. Here are my top takeaways from the likes of Ari Emanuel, Issa Rae, Byron Allen, and Bryan Lourd to name a few. It’s always motivating to see the mindset of what it takes to build a platform that makes waves on a global level. Looking forward to the day I will be able to be on the other side of table for events like this.

If you are in the media - talent management space or have seen Entourage, you may be familiar with Ari Emanuel. One of the most respected and feared entertainment executives in the game today. Founder of Endeavor.
He spoke about the recent acquistions of UFC and WWE and emphasized the fact that they had no churn aka no offseason as a reason why it was an attractive buy. This allows them to work 365 x 24/7 and increase their bottom line revenue because of the no churn value proposition. I couldn’t help but think about myself as an athlete creator and the growing landscape of athlete creators, how can you create no churn business with your own screentime?

Sports allows you to have many different touchpoints. From media to talent management to licensing to product to live sports to ticket sales , etc. If you aren’t looking to build a flywheel company than you will get lost in sauce according to Ari. I love his perspective and as I tie it back to my philosophy, the flywheel approach is the safest way to build a successful company for the long run.
